Connecting an AHU in series with chilled beams

Postby seanr53 » Wed Aug 15, 2012 12:00 am

G'Day,

I've been trying to achieve maximum efficiency on a new chilled beam job...

Is there a way to model chilled beams in series with the AHU, so that the chilled water loop passes through the AHU before continuing to the chilled beams?

I've tried connecting the pipes in Detailed HVAC, but it won't allow me to connect the AHU in series. Is there an option I need to select somewhere?

Thanks,

Hi,

Unfortunately, you cannot yet connect branch components in series in DB but we will be allowing this shortly. In the meantime, you might consider exporting an IDF file from DB and manually editing it to incorporate the series connection. You would then need to run E+ in standalone mode.

Is it now possible (v5.5)? I troed, but even with the use of a fluid-to-fluid heat exchanger it seems not possible... (it can be placed in series only in a supply sub-loop, so it cannot be used as "generator" in a different zone group). Please advice.
