Error during LEED v4 Option 1 daylighting simulation

Postby gia-khanh.phi » Fri Mar 02, 2018 11:31 am

Did anyone try the LEED v4 Option 1 in DesignBuilder v5.2.0.156 (see image 1)? I did and received this error (see the image 2).
When I clicked OK, it seemed like DesignBuilder skipped the current zone in the simulation process and moved to next zone.

Please help me on this issue since we really need it for our project. :( :( :(

Thank you in advance!

Your model could be too big for Daysim to handle. Technically, there are too many grid cells..
Daysim is a 32bit program so it can only use 2Gb of RAM. Trying to calculate too many grid cells causes it to go over the 2Gb limit and it will crash. The error message relates to the fact that Daysim didn’t calculate as many cells as it should have.

Unfortunately, the only workaround is to increase the cell size (or maybe split the zones up so they are smaller). 1.0 max size and 0.5 min size.

Thank you for your response! I tried increase max grid size to 0.6 m, min grid size to 0.3 m and then it worked smoothly. :)
